Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency you’ll need to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum cleaner cheap vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has large bins that will need to be cleaned out every now and then.
You can also find models that clean and charge themselves, a feature that may be essential for those who have pets or children. The top performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. That makes the i3+ a good choice for people who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren’t afraid of taking the time to empty their robot’s trash bin when it fills up.
Both robots do well picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they are very good in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we test the i3+ doesn’t have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may get stuck on things like socks or power cords and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends that you tidy the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clean to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is full or its battery is depleted it will return to its docking station, automatically emptying its debris into the station’s dust bin and continues cleaning the area where it left off. The i3+ EVO’s battery lasts for about an hour and a half continuous use. It takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line, and it comes with all the latest features. It’s self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can control your robot through the app or via voice.
In our testing the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also amazed by the i7+’s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot best home vacuum cleaner App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as “Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom.” The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+’s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It’s powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households however, it can also fit in well next to the table for a coffee or shelves where you can wave it around like the magic device.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that lasts for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large crumbs and fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It is able to quickly change between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments and a clip for a wand. This is a big improvement over the older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR’s tests show. This is a typical, not an exceptional, time to run an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is enough time to vacuum a typical-sized home but not enough to get into every corner. (A second run is usually sufficient). However, this model doesn’t have its benefits It’s lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is better on low-pile carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that’s an excellent choice for those who don’t have a lot of money to invest in an expensive robot. It was able to remove the majority of types of debris in our tests and would often go over the same area multiple times to ensure an efficient clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the walls’ edges, which is a nice addition.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it isn’t equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn’t in good condition, and frequently is power-depleted before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most reasons, since it has a longer battery life, can change its suction power mode on its own and has physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone’s voice assistant. It’s also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It’s not a surprise that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app offers a wide range of customization options for your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior modifications docking frequency settings and more. It’s easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well at avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It’s also more expensive than the other models we’ve tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum (web) has an onboard camera that you can access through the app. You can also create a live stream from the best robot vacuum deals‘s cleaning station. This feature lets you to check in on your children or pets when you’re away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned to ensure a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that self-empties to keep the robot’s dustbin clear and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning run.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They come with a wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds twice as much debris than other models to keep the cleaning area clear for maximum runtime. They also have two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level based on whether it is collecting surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also comes with a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. Plus, you can monitor the status of the vacuum’s battery and then return it to its dock for charging at the push of one button. The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can discern where it is focusing or if it’s stuck.
The app makes it possible to manually steer the robot, if necessary. My living room rug for example has a dark-colored border that could cause trouble for other robots. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn’t register it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
